Legal Associate General Counsel, Privacy – Remote (USA) (993-SLS) at Solutus Legal Search

Attorney advises on global privacy and data protection laws, manages regulatory compliance programs, and partners with business and security teams on privacy strategy and implementation.

Senior Remote Posted about 13 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Our client, the company behind the fastest open-source analytical database in the world and a mission-driven, fast-growing private cloud company and leader in real-time analytics, data warehousing, and data observability, has exclusively engaged Solutus Legal Search to assist its executives in hiring an attorney to serve as Associate General Counsel, Privacy.

The Role

Reporting to the General Counsel, this attorney will own the company’s global privacy legal function, serving as the company’s principal legal advisor on domestic and international privacy and data protection matters, as well as be the Legal Team’s principal partner with the Security Team. This attorney will partner closely with business teams to develop and implement practical, business-oriented approaches to complex privacy issues and build scalable processes that support the company’s continued growth.

This is a build role: you will take a growing set of privacy obligations, customer commitments, and regulatory exposures and turn them into a coherent, well-documented program that scales with the business.  You will be the privacy expert in the room for product and engineering decisions, the person Sales and Legal turn to on DPAs and cross-border transfer questions and data flow mapping, and the legal lead alongside Security and GRC functions on security commitments, audits, and incident response.  You will operate as an individual contributor, with the expectation that you build a team as the program matures.  This role suits someone who is comfortable with technical depth. You will be reading data flow diagrams, asking engineers precise questions about where data is stored and who can reach it, and giving answers a product team can actually implement.

What You’ll Do

Own the global privacy program

  • Advise on domestic and international privacy and data protection laws and regulations, including GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA/CPRA, other U.S. state and international privacy laws, and international data transfer requirements.
  • Own the data subject request process end to end, along with the privacy elements of vendor and subprocessor diligence.
  • Track regulatory and enforcement developments across jurisdictions and translate them into concrete changes to our product, contracts, and internal practices — not just memos.
  • Conduct and oversee privacy risk assessments, including data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), transfer impact assessments, and related documentation.

Manage and build out the function

  • Enhance and mature the company’s privacy program to continue meeting evolving regulatory requirements. Scale core program components with respect to data subject rights requests, privacy notices, consent management, impact assessments, and policy management.
  • Maintain the program’s operating machinery: records of processing, data inventories and mapping, retention schedules, DPIAs and transfer impact assessments, and privacy policies and notices.
  • Deliver privacy and security training that people remember, and drive internal awareness across engineering, sales, marketing, partner relationships and support.
  • Manage outside counsel and privacy vendors against a budget.
  • Serve as, or manage the relationship with, our EU representative and data protection officer arrangements as required.
  • Advise Marketing on adtech, cookies and tracking technologies, and electronic marketing compliance.
  • Report to leadership on privacy and security risk and support Board and audit reporting on the program.

Counsel product and engineering

  • Embed with product and engineering teams as they design features, giving privacy-by-design guidance early enough to shape architecture rather than block launches.
  • Advise on data residency and localization, telemetry and usage data, encryption and key management, access controls, logging, anonymization and pseudonymization, and retention and deletion mechanics.
  • Advise on AI and machine learning features — training data provenance, customer data use restrictions, model and vendor terms, and emerging AI regulatory requirements.

Support commercial contracting

  • Own our DPA and its negotiation strategy, including standard contractual clauses, the UK IDTA and Addendum, and other transfer mechanisms; negotiate the privacy and security terms in customer and vendor agreements.
  • Serve as escalation point for Legal and Deal Desk on privacy and security terms, and build the playbooks, fallback positions, and self-service guidance that let the rest of the team resolve most of these without you.
  • Support enterprise, public sector, and regulated-industry deals with sector-specific requirements, including HIPAA business associate agreements and financial services and payments obligations.

Partner with Security and GRC

  • Serve as legal counsel to the Security organization on our security commitments, control frameworks, and audit and certification programs — SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, PCI DSS, and the frameworks we take on next.
  • Lead the legal workstream in security incident response: assess breach notification obligations across jurisdictions and contracts, manage regulator and customer notification, direct outside counsel and forensics under privilege, and run tabletop exercises with Security.
  • Advise on law enforcement and government data requests, preservation obligations, and the policies governing how we respond.
  • Support the GRC and Compliance functions on customer security questionnaires, trust center content, and the accuracy of our public privacy and security representations

Requirements:

  • Strong academic credentials and membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
  • 7-10+ years of relevant legal experience, with strong training at a top-rated national or international law firm. Law firm and in-house experience at a high-growth B2B SaaS company, preferably in the data infrastructure sector.

Engineer Senior Software Engineer (Fullstack), New Ventures at Toast

Build end-to-end fullstack features across backend services, web, and Android apps for Toast's new ventures product line.

Senior Remote Posted about 13 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Location(s): US (remote), Boston (hybrid), or New York (hybrid)

About Toast

Toast builds technology that helps food and beverage businesses run smoother, serve customers better, and grow with confidence. Our platform brings together the tools teams need to power daily operations—while turning complexity into clear, actionable insights. We’re purpose-built for the pace of hospitality, and we’re investing in new experiences that make great businesses easier to run at any scale.

Bready* to make a change?

Our New Ventures team operates like a startup inside Toast. We’re a small group building a new line of business from scratch on the foundation of the Toast platform, unlocking a new market with new customers, and we have a lot of room to decide how things should work.

We’re looking for a builder — someone genuinely fullstack, as comfortable in a backend service as in a React front end, who follows a problem wherever it leads instead of stopping where their specialty ends. You’ll work across backend, web, and our Android point-of-sale and handheld apps. Prior Kotlin isn’t required; comfort learning a new platform is.

About this roll* (Responsibilities)

  • Build end-to-end across the stack — backend services, APIs and data models, web front ends, and our Android point-of-sale and handheld apps — going wherever the product needs you.
  • Get up to speed on unfamiliar platforms and codebases quickly — including Android/Kotlin.
  • Be customer-interested and product-minded—curious about what operators actually need, and willing to have a point of view on what we build.
  • Collaborate closely with a small cross-functional team, biasing toward putting things in the hands of customers as fast as possible.
  • Navigate diverse, unfamiliar codebases across the Toast platform and consistently deliver high-quality code on timeline.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of ownership in all aspects of development — including the unglamorous parts: testing, instrumentation, on-call, and cleanup.
  • Leverage cutting-edge AI tools to enhance your development workflow, improve velocity, and help pioneer new approaches to building — contributing to a culture of innovation and productivity across the team.

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

  • A track record of shipping meaningful product to real users, with clear technical and business impact.
  • Genuine fullstack range: you’ve owned features from backend service and API through to the client, and you have a real opinion about both ends.
  • Solid backend fundamentals ( Java, Kotlin, or similar) — distributed systems, asynchronous communication, event-driven architecture, API design, and integration patterns.
  • Comfort with modern web front-end development ( React or similar) and an eye for a usable interface.
  • A credible track record of learning a new language, framework, or platform on the job and shipping production code in it.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver clean, maintainable, resilient code that withstands the test of time.
  • Experience in 0→1 builds, and high comfort with shifting priorities and incomplete requirements.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills — you can write up a technical design, get alignment on it, and work well with product and design partners.
  • A clear pattern of using AI tools to accelerate your work, and the ability to speak specifically about how you use them to ship better work faster.

Special sauce* (Nice to haves)

  • Android development experience, particularly production Kotlin (or Java alongside it).
  • You’ve worked on early-stage products, internal incubations, or rapid experimentation teams.
  • Experience with point-of-sale, payments, hardware-adjacent, or offline-first systems.
  • You’ve been the person on a team who fills whatever gap is open — and you enjoyed it.

Education Senior Learning Designer at BrainPOP

Senior Learning Designer leads instructional design and assessment strategy for educational content initiatives, mentoring junior designers and ensuring quality across learning experiences.

Senior Remote Posted about 13 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

For over two decades, BrainPOP has been trusted by educators and parents worldwide as a source of engaging and impactful learning experiences for all kids. With a presence in over two-thirds of U.S. districts through school and district subscriptions and an estimated annual reach of 25 million students, BrainPOP is empowering kids to take agency over their learning and excel in and out of the classroom.

The company was acquired in 2022 by KIRKBI, the family-owned holding and investment company of the LEGO brand, marking a significant milestone as their first acquisition in the digital learning realm. We are thrilled to continue making learning fun and accessible with the strategic guidance and support of KIRKBI.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Director of Learning Design, the Senior Learning Designer is a senior individual contributor who drives the learning design work within content initiatives from brief to launch.

The Senior Learning Designer translates strategic direction into coherent design decisions, models craft for the team, and actively upskills other learning designers through feedback. They are a go-to expert in assessment design and instructional quality and a key partner in building scalable AI-assisted content workflows.

This role will be based in NY, NY at the BrainPOP HQ, or remote in the US (Eastern time zone strongly preferred). Occasional travel may be required.

What You’ll Do

Initiative Leadership

  • Own the learning design work within assigned content initiatives—making and documenting key design decisions from brief through launch in partnership with the PM and Senior Director of Learning Design.
  • Translate strategic direction into design frameworks, item blueprints, and content specs that the broader team can execute against.
  • Maintain quality and coherence across a collection or initiative, catching inconsistencies in grade-band differentiation, cognitive demand, and instructional alignment.

Assessment Design & Item Writing

  • Write and review formative assessment items at a level that models craft for the team.
  • Set the distractor logic standard for an initiative; identify systemic quality gaps and address them through specs or direct feedback.
  • Ensure grade-band differentiation is applied consistently across an initiative

Team Development & Upskilling

  • Provide direct feedback on assessment items and learning design decisions, and model the design thinking rationale in a way that builds others’ judgment over time.
  • Build shared resourceswhen a quality gap reveals a systemic need: guidelines, worked examples, rubrics, or short workshops.

AI-Enabled Content Development

  • Partner on AI content pipelines, contributing to prompt design, output evaluation frameworks, and quality rubrics for AI-generated content.
  • Identify where AI tooling can improve initiative workflows and bring concrete proposals to the Senior Manager of Learning Design.

Product & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Represent learning design in product discovery and development within assigned initiative squads.
  • Support on-time delivery by proactively flagging scope, quality, or resourcing risks to the Senior Manager of Learning Design.

You Are

  • A design decision-maker: comfortable making and defending instructional design calls with clarity and rationale, not just executing direction.
  • A craft model: the kind of writer and assessment designer others want to learn from; sets a visible standard.
  • A developer of others: gets satisfaction from building team capacity, not just personal output.
  • Analytically rigorous: can articulate what “good” looks like in reproducible terms and apply that standard consistently across a collection.
  • A strong initiative partner: works fluidly with PMs, editorial, and product without needing constant direction.
  • Digitally fluent: designs for interactive digital environments and is comfortable in CMS and AI-assisted content workflows.

On Your Resume

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in Education, Instructional Design, or Curriculum & Instruction.
  • Assessment item writing: Strong portfolio of K–8 formative assessment items for digital learning products, with evidence of quality ownership across a collection.
  • Curriculum design: 7+ years designing K–8 curriculum and learning experiences for edtech; deep knowledge of learning research and classroom application.
  • MLL: Experience in K-8 instructional design and assessment development for multilingual learners for a technology-based product strongly preferred.
  • Standards fluency: Deep knowledge of K–8 standards in at least one core subject area (Science or Math preferred); uses standards as design inputs. Demonstrated understanding of WIDA framework and standards, as well as national (i.e., NGSS, CCSS, etc.) and state-specific ELD standards (CA, TX, AZ) strongly preferred.
  • Initiative or project leadership: Demonstrated experience leading the design work within a content initiative—making decisions, managing quality, and coordinating with cross-functional partners.
  • AI content pipeline experience:Demonstrated experience with prompt design, output evaluation, or rubric design for AI-generated content. Systematic workflow experience required.

Location

The BrainPOP team operates in a hybrid work environment: Each role has remote flexibility and an in-person component at our New York headquarters or other meeting locations. Based on the requirements of a specific role, we may prioritize hiring within a commutable distance of our New York headquarters or in another region relevant to that role.

Engineer Staff Backend Engineer - Grafana Second Horizon | Germany | Remote at Grafana Labs

Staff backend engineer builds AI-native data intelligence systems that provide agents with governed access to enterprise context for observability and decision-making.

Senior Remote Posted about 13 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Grafana Labs is the company behind Grafana Cloud, the fully managed observability platform trusted by more than 10,000 organizations to ensure reliability, resolve incidents faster, and optimize telemetry at scale. Built on open source and open standards and designed for interoperability across any stack, Grafana Cloud brings AI to observability and observability to AI, giving teams (and their agents) unified visibility so they can see, understand, and act on all their disparate data, wherever it lives, and move at the speed of their ambitions. Customers, including Anthropic, Bloomberg, NVIDIA, Microsoft, and Salesforce, rely on Grafana Labs. We are a 100% remote company with team members across 40+ countries, backed by leading investors including Lightspeed Venture Partners, Sequoia Capital, GIC, Coatue, J.P. Morgan, CapitalG, and Lead Edge Capital. Learn more at grafana.com and follow us on LinkedIn and X.

We’re scaling fast and staying true to what makes us different: an open-source legacy, a global collaborative culture, and a passion for meaningful work. Our team thrives in an innovation-driven environment where transparency, autonomy, and trust fuel everything we do.

You may not meet every requirement, and that’s okay. If this role excites you, we’d love you to raise your hand for what could be a truly career-defining opportunity.

This is a remote opportunity, and we would be interested in applicants located in Spain, Sweden, UK, Ireland or Germany.

The Opportunity:

At Grafana Labs, we build observability tools that help users understand, respond to, and improve their systems – regardless of scale, complexity, or tech stack. We recently started a skunkworks initiative with a mission to bring observability to the rest of the business. Our goal is to make Grafana the single best place where humans and AI agents understand and act on real-time data from across the enterprise. As part of this initiative, we are building an AI-native data intelligence system that gives agents reliable, governed access to enterprise context. This system helps agents retrieve the right data, metadata, definitions, lineage, quality signals, and institutional knowledge without every agent builder having to maintain their own brittle context files. The principle is simple: the context system retrieves, agents decide, and data teams maintain the intelligence.

The new team is a mix of seasoned Grafanistas and new hires. We operate with a high degree of autonomy and ownership, both as individuals and as a team. Engineers are empowered to make decisions, move quickly, and validate ideas early – while being supported by a deeply collaborative culture that values curiosity, feedback, and cross-functional partnership.

We’re looking for a Staff-level Backend Engineer to help build the first production services for this context layer management system. You will design and ship the core backend architecture that powers ingestion, context storage, retrieval APIs, and agent-facing integrations. This is an early-stage role on a high-autonomy team, so you should be comfortable working through ambiguity, making pragmatic architectural decisions, and building systems that can evolve from internal dogfooding to production-grade SaaS. As the team matures, there’s a broad opportunity to expand or redefine this role based on impact and initiative.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Engineer Staff Backend Engineer - Grafana Second Horizon | Ireland | Remote at Grafana Labs

Staff Backend Engineer builds AI-native data intelligence systems and observability tools at scale for enterprise customers.

  • Build the core backend services: Design, implement, test, and operate the first services for context ingestion, context indexing, retrieval orchestration, API access, source configuration, and system administration.
  • Create a scalable SaaS foundation: Help define and build the architecture for a multi-tenant service, including tenant isolation, usage tracking, quotas, audit logs, background jobs, and reliable service boundaries.

  • Build the core backend services: Design, implement, test, and operate the first services for context ingestion, context indexing, retrieval orchestration, API access, source configuration, and system administration.
  • Create a scalable SaaS foundation: Help define and build the architecture for a multi-tenant service, including tenant isolation, usage tracking, quotas, audit logs, background jobs, and reliable service boundaries.
  • Power agent-facing retrieval workflows: Build APIs and service interfaces that allow AI agents, MCP tools, CLIs, and internal applications to retrieve relevant context, provenance, confidence signals, and warnings.
  • Work across product and infrastructure: Partner with the team to make practical tradeoffs between fast experimentation and long-term reliability, especially as the project moves from prototype to production.
  • Operate what you build: Instrument services with metrics, logs, traces, alerts, and dashboards. Use observability tools to understand system behavior and improve reliability.
  • Contribute to technical direction: Help shape the architecture, service boundaries, storage choices, API contracts, deployment patterns, and engineering practices for a new product area.
  • Effective communication: You’ll be working in a highly dynamic and collaborative environment, so we need someone who can communicate effectively and contribute across teams.
  • Ownership and impact: Take full ownership of the AI solutions you develop, ensuring they are not only innovative but also scalable, maintainable, and aligned with real user workflows.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • Strong engineering skills: Solid experience building production-grade, user-facing software systems. You’re a self-starter, capable of tackling complex engineering problems and making UI design decisions with minimal supervision.
  • AI experience with a practical mindset: You’re familiar with AI technologies and frameworks, and you focus on delivering high-quality solutions that work in the real world, not just in theory.
  • Quick iteration and experimentation: You’re comfortable releasing prototypes, collecting feedback, and iterating with a pragmatic mindset.
  • Proven initiative: You take ownership and drive projects forward, pushing boundaries to find the most impactful solutions. You can deal with ambiguity and are able to define scope where things are loosely defined.
  • Collaborative attitude: You communicate effectively with your peers. You’re open to feedback, and you bring a solutions-oriented mindset to the table.
  • Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, and building applications powered by GenAI.
  • Proven track record of delivering software that made it into production and is actively used by users.
  • Exposure to working in cloud-native environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Experience using observability tools to understand and troubleshoot system behavior.

Bonus Points for:

  • Experience building or working with agent frameworks or multi‑agent workflows.
  • Experience as a data analyst or work with data platforms (e.g., Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, Snowflake, DataBricks)
  • Experience building tools for data engineering.

*Compensation ranges are country specific. If you are applying for this role from a different location than listed above, your recruiter will discuss your specific market’s defined pay range & benefits at the beginning of the process.

Engineer Staff Backend Engineer - Grafana Second Horizon | UK | Remote at Grafana Labs

Staff Backend Engineer builds AI-native data intelligence systems and observability tools at scale for enterprise clients using open-source and cloud technologies.

You Will Be

  • Prioritizing and managing your workload against the enterprise pursuit pipeline, proactively identifying and communicating competing deadlines or resource needs

  • Designing the full pitch deck for each assigned pursuit, from opening narrative through appendix and back pocket material, built from content approved by the Growth Lead

  • Providing custom branding and design guidelines when required as determined by the Growth Lead

  • Turning audit findings, media plans, and performance data into clear, on brand visualizations that hold up to scrutiny from a sophisticated buyer

  • Producing motion and video assets for pitches, including sizzle reels, animated case studies, transitions, and short-form video woven into the live presentation

  • Assembling case study, credentials, and team slides from our library

  • Formatting RFP and RFI written responses to brand in Word and Google Docs, including tables, exhibits, and cover treatments

  • Creating supplemental assets such as leave-behind PDFs, one pagers, capability sheets, proposal covers, and concept and activation mocks where the narrative requires them

  • Delivering presenter-ready files in every format a pitch requires (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Keynote, PDF, video) and testing them in the environment they will be presented in

  • Supporting rehearsal rounds and the live pitch itself, absorbing late changes and helping the team walk in confident

  • Building and maintaining the master pitch template, slide library, and reusable component system, and documenting it so non-designers can use it well

  • Archiving final as-delivered files, source files, linked assets, and fonts at the close of each pursuit

You Must Have

  • 3+ years of design experience, with a meaningful portion of it in presentation, pitch, or new business design

  • Experience inside a performance marketing, media, or creative agency

  • A portfolio that shows decks and pitch materials you designed, ideally including work that helped win business

  • Expert level command of PowerPoint and Google Slides, including master layouts, animation, and the practical realities of building files that survive being handed off

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Figma

Video editing and motion graphics ability in Premiere Pro and After Effects, or comparable tools, sufficient to cut and finish pitch video independently

  • Genuine skill at data visualization, and the judgment to know when a number needs a chart and when it needs a single large word

  • Comfort working from strategy and analytics inputs, and the confidence to ask a strategist what a slide is actually trying to prove

  • Strong time management and the composure to work under real deadline pressure, including compressed pitch windows

  • Excellent collaborative instincts, and a track record of taking direction from senior stakeholders without losing your own point of view

  • Availability to flex during active pitch windows, including occasional evenings and weekends near a deadline

  • Familiarity with the technical aspects of digital and print production deliverables

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with RFP and RFI processes and proposal software
  • Experience building or maintaining a brand or presentation design system
  • Knowledge of Asana or similar project management tools
  • Light copy editing ability, enough to tighten a headline that is not working
  • Sound design and music selection instincts for video work
